BJ’s Wholesale Club announced a donation of $10,000 to charity: water in support of Keurig Green Mountain (Keurig’s) sustainability campaign, Double Your Impact. Keurig’s campaign was developed to help make sure water is available and safe for generations to come in Ethiopia, one of the largest coffee-growing countries in the world. “BJ’s Wholesale Club is continually looking for ways to educate Members and Team Members on the connection between the high-quality food and merchandise we provide with the long-term health of local and international communities and sourcing environments,” said Scott Williams, Associate Vice President for Quality Assurance & Environmental Stewardship at BJ’s Wholesale Club. "We are especially excited to support Keurig, especially when it allows us both to raise awareness on the issue of millions of people living without access to clean water.” As part of this donation, BJ’s developed a fundraising page on charity: water’s website and asked its Team Members and Members to help support this cause via its social media channels. Throughout December, each contribution will unlock a donation from Keurig for the same amount to help twice as many people.   “Water is a critical natural resource that is fundamentally important to our business, our stakeholders and the communities in which we operate,” said Monique Oxender, Chief Sustainability Officer at Keurig. “By teaming up with BJ’s on our support of charity: water, we can double our impact in Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee, where more than half of the population lacks access to clean water.”   Every day, 1,400 kids die from water-related illnesses before they reach their fifth birthday. But there are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand Filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.  With charity: water, 100% of the dollars raised fund water projects like these. The nonprofit also tracks every dollar raised, and shows the projects each donor helped fund through photos and GPS.
