On. Jan. 14, Tomorrow, Publix plans to begin administering Moderna COVID-19 vaccines at pharmacies in Florida's Collier, Flagler, St. Johns and Volusia counties, expanding its rollout of the vaccination to 105 locations.Publix Super Markets

After an initial allocation to 22 pharmacies, Publix Super Markets has rolled out the coronavirus vaccine to 105 pharmacies in 12 Florida counties.

Publix yesterday expanded its distribution of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to Collier, Flagler, St. Johns and Volusia counties, with vaccinations starting tomorrow, Jan. 14. In line with Florida health authority guidelines, the immunization is currently available only to health care workers, residents and staff in long-term care facilities, and people ages 65 and older.

Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix said the increased allocation comes after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis released additional doses of the vaccine. The company noted that it’s continuing talks with Florida and the other six states in its Southeastern operating area to provide COVID-19 vaccinations via its pharmacies.

“For 90 years, Publix has served its customers and communities in times of need,” Publix CEO Todd Jones said in a statement. “Our ability to provide these vaccinations to Florida’s 65-and-older population is a privilege. We are grateful to Gov. DeSantis for his willingness to work with us to serve our communities.”

COVID-19 inoculations will be offered by appointment while supplies last. Publix customers can schedule a vaccination using the retailer’s online reservation system at publix.com/covidvaccine. The vaccinations are free, but Publix said customers will need to bring their insurance card, and those without insurance must provide their driver’s license or Social Security number.

At the time, Publix said each of its pharmacies can provide about 120 immunizations per day.

In addition to four pharmacies in Citrus County, seven in Hernando County, and 12 in Marion County, Publix is offering coronavirus vaccinations in Bay (five pharmacies), Collier (16 pharmacies), Escambia (six pharmacies), Flagler (four pharmacies), Okaloosa (seven pharmacies), St. Johns (14 pharmacies), Santa Rosa (five pharmacies), Volusia (22 pharmacies) and Walton (three pharmacies) counties.

Publix operates more than 1,000 pharmacies in its 1,264 stores across Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
