Stop & Shop has partnered with AARP to provide free supermarket store tours for Long Island, N.Y., seniors.

The one-hour tours will help seniors buy nutritious foods within a budget.

During the tours, participants learn how to buy fruits and vegetables within a budget, compare unit prices, read food labels and buy whole grains.

The tours are being held each weekend in Nov. and December in two stores: Coram and Freeport.

Attendees receive a $10 Stop & Shop gift card, a free reusable shopping bag and a recipe book.

The program is being offered in cooperation with Share Our Strength's Cooking Matters, a program that helps low-income families develop and maintain healthier eating habits; Long Island Cares, a hunger relief organization; and the Health and Wellness Council of Long Island.
