AHOLD ENTERS DEAL TO START CHAIN IN SPAIN

ZAANDAM, Netherlands -- Ahold here last week said it has entered an agreement to develop a supermarket-hypermarket operation in Spain in a joint venture with Caprabo S.A., Barcelona, Spain.

Caprabo operates 90 supermarkets and hypermarkets in Spain. Ahold has supermarket operations in the United States, Netherlands, Portugal, Czech Republic, Poland and Southeast Asia.
