AHOLD EXTENDS STOP & SHOP TENDER OFFER

ZAANDAM, Netherlands -- Royal Ahold here said last week it has extended until Friday its tender offer for shares of Stop & Shop Cos., Quincy, Mass. It is the fourth extension of the offer. The previous extension was scheduled to expire at midnight last Friday. Ahold said it has made "substantial progress" in seeking approvals for the deal from the Federal Trade Commission and with the attorney generals' offices in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
