Next week, Shipt is slated to launch same-day online grocery delivery from Bi-Lo, Kroger, Publix and Target stores in metropolitan Myrtle Beach, S.C., and from Target stores in the Knoxville, Tenn., area.

Shipt said Tuesday that starting May 8, more than 50,000 households in Myrtle Beach will be able to order a selection of groceries, fresh foods, household essentials and other products from area Bi-Lo, Kroger, Publix and Target stores through the Shipt online marketplace and have them delivered in as soon as one hour.

“We know our members appreciate a flexible, personalized approach to shopping,” Bill Smith, founder and CEO of Shipt, said in a statement.  “Our launch in Myrtle Beach signifies our commitment to providing multiple retailer options that fit the preferences of each busy family or individual.”

Also on May 8, 160,000-plus households in Knoxville and surrounding communities will be able to order from over 55,000 groceries, home essentials, electronics, toys and other products at Target stores via Shipt and get same-day delivery.

“This launch not only expands Shipt’s footprint across the state of Tennessee, but also gives new and loyal members alike access to delivery from a growing list of retailers and products,” Smith said.

Shipt said it plans to add more than 150 new Shipt shoppers in the Myrtle Beach area and around 175 in Tennessee to handle order fulfillment at the stores. The personal shoppers select, bag and deliver the items.

With the expansion, Birmingham, Ala.-based Shipt is offering $50 off the regular $99 annual membership to the retailers’ customers who sign up for the service before launch. The yearly membership provides access to free, unlimited delivery on orders of more than $35. Shipt was acquired by Target Corp. in December.
