AWG Taps Phillips For Financial Post
Wholesale Grocers here has named Gary Phillips chief financial officer.
Phillips previously served as the cooperative wholesaler's executive vice president of finance and administration. In the new position, he reports to Doug Carolan, chief operating officer.
A 22-year AWG veteran, Phillips continues to be responsible for functions in the accounting, information services, treasury and internal audit departments as well as the Supermarket Insurance Agency/Benchmark Insurance Co.
Randalls Names Real Estate VP
HOUSTON -- Joe Rollins has been promoted to senior vice president for Randalls Properties, a real estate subsidiary of Randalls Food Markets here.
Rollins, who joined Randalls in 1984 as a director of real estate, most recently was vice president of real estate. He reports to Randall Onstead, president and chief executive officer.
In the new position, Rollins is responsible for managing real estate site acquisitions and shopping center development activities for Randalls and Tom Thumb supermarkets in the Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin, Texas, metro areas.
Weis Adds Three Positions
SUNBURY, Pa. -- Weis Markets here has created three new positions to oversee aspects of its expansion efforts.
Harold "Rusty" Graber was named vice president of real estate. Graber joined the company in 1989 as director of real estate and previously served as head of real estate for Fisher Big Wheel.
Jonathan Weis was appointed vice president of property management and development. Joining the company in 1989, he has held several positions there and most recently worked in the real estate department.
Graber and Weis will continue to focus on the chain's growth in the mid-Atlantic region. They report to Robert F. Weis, chairman, and Norman S. Rich, president.
Kathleen M. Barry has joined the real estate department and focuses on finding new store sites and expansion opportunities in Maryland. She reports to Graber.
Supervalu Fills Corporate Slot
MINNEAPOLIS -- Neil Libson has been named to corporate director of office facilities for Supervalu here.
In the position, Libson is responsible for office facilities planning, maintenance and services. Libson, who joined the company in 1985, most recently served as manager of architecture for Design Services Group, a Supervalu's subsidiary. Replacing John Hedburg, who retired, Libson reports to Ron Tortelli, senior vice president of corporate human resources.
NJFC Trustees Appoint Israel
TRENTON, N.J. -- The New Jersey Food Council Foundation Board of Trustees here has elected Cary A. Israel as its first public-at-large candidate.
The NJFC established the Foundation earlier this year to promote career opportunities in the food industry.
