AHOLD NAMES GABRYS EVP, PROMOTES LABBE

Gabrys most recently had been executive vice president, operations, at Ahold's Carlisle, Pa.-based Giant Food Stores division.

Replacing Gabrys at Giant-Carlisle is Peter Labbe, who was named to fill the expanded role of executive vice president, retail operations. He will oversee retail support, logistics, technology and store operations, and will continue to report to Tony Schiano, president and chief executive officer, Giant-Carlisle.

RAND NAMED EVP-WHOLESALE OPERATIONS AT AWG

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Associated Wholesale Grocers here said Mike Rand has been named to the new position of executive vice president, wholesale operations. He will be responsible for overseeing operations of AWG's five grocery divisions, located here and in Oklahoma City; Springfield, Mo.; and Memphis and Nashville, Tenn. Rand, 51, has been with AWG for 24 years. He was previously senior vice president, division manager, in the company's Kansas City and Oklahoma City divisions and before that served as vice president, distribution, for the Springfield division.

ARDEN CFO OLIVER TO STEP DOWN AT END OF MARCH

LOS ANGELES -- Arden Group here said last week that David Oliver, chief financial officer, will leave the company at the end of March. Oliver told SN he was pursuing another career opportunity that would allow him to remain at Arden through the company's year-end financial filings. A search is under way for a replacement, the company said.
