Kroger Delivery Now Available in Greater Nashville and Chicago Metro Area

Kroger on Tuesday opened two new spoke facilities in the greater Nashville area and in the Chicago metro area, making Kroger Delivery available to more customers in Tennessee and Illinois. 

Both locations will serve as last-mile, cross-dock locations enabling a seamless extension of regional fulfillment centers, the grocery retailer said in a statement.

"Kroger Delivery promises an unparalleled shopping and delivery experience, making fresh just one click away at Kroger.com or the Kroger app," said Bill Bennett, Kroger VP and head of E-commerce, in a statement. "From personalized digital offers to our white-glove delivery service, the Kroger seamless ecosystem saves time and money. Kroger Delivery orders are brought to customers in our branded delivery trucks and delivered to their doorstep by our trained and uniformed associates—all with zero compromise." 

The 40,000-square-foot facility located on Polk Avenue in Nashville will work with the Atlanta fulfillment center, extending the network’s reach up to 200 miles from the hub. The spoke facility will employ more than 180 associates.

"Tennessee is defined by the brands that call our state home, so we are proud to partner with the Kroger Delivery team as the company establishes and opens its operations in Davidson County. Nashville's pro-business climate and central location will be vital in helping Kroger expand its customer delivery reach across the Southeast for years to come," said Tennessee Economic & Community Development Commissioner Stuart McWhorter, in a statement.

As part of the geographic expansion for the Cincinnati-based grocer, Kroger Delivery will now reach customers in Chicago with its 80,000-square-foot facility located in Maywood, 20 miles west of Chicago, the Midwest grocer said in a statement. The spoke facility will work with the fulfillment center in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, and will employ more than 180 associates.

"Kroger's facility replaces a blighted area while adding new jobs and revenues that aid in the revitalization of our community. We are happy to welcome a partner that works to address our food desert designation and look to evolving collaboration with them," said Maywood Mayor Nathaniel George Booker in a statement.

Local shoppers in these areas will also have access to Kroger's loyalty membership program Boost, which launched nationwide last month.  The tiered program gives customers the choice of two annual membership levels at $59 or $99 and provides customers unlimited free grocery delivery on orders of $35 or more, the grocer said. 

Kroger, which is investing heavily in its delivery platform, earlier this month opened a new facility in Kentucky to expand Louisville delivery.
