CINCINNATI - Kroger is making it easy for shoppers to avoid eating meat during Lent with new grab-and-go hot fish sandwiches.

Made with wild-caught Alaskan pollock, the 4-ounce sandwiches sell two for $3 each on Fridays during Lent. On other days of the week, they retail for $1.99.

As a special promotion, shoppers can save $1 with the purchase of a 20-ounce Coca-Cola and a fish sandwich.

Kroger is also using Lent to promote its online “Seafood Selector,” which describes different types of fish, their nutrition, fun facts and recipes like Roasted Garlic and Nut-Crusted Tilapia.
