NGA APPOINTS CHAIRMAN, 9 OTHERS
RESTON, Va. -- The National Grocers Association here has named Dean Janeway its chairman and has made several other high-level appointments, effective immediately. Janeway, who was vice chairman of the NGA in 1996-97, succeeds Larry D. Contos, president and chief executive officer of Pay Less Super Markets, Anderson, Ind. RESTON, Va. -- The National Grocers Association here has named Dean Janeway its chairman and has made several other high-level appointments, effective immediately. Janeway, who was vice chairman of the NGA in 1996-97, succeeds Larry D. Contos, president and chief executive officer of Pay Less Super Markets, Anderson, Ind. Contos is now immediate past chairman of NGA and will continue to be on the organization's board.
NGA also named the following new members to its board:
Wesley A. Ball, president, Tennessee Retail Growers Association, Nashville, Tenn.
Vincent Cannata, president, Cannata's Food World, Morgan City, La.
Stanton L. Irvin, president and general manager, Tri-State Wholesale Associated Grocers, El Paso, Texas.
Jeffrey Noddle, executive vice president, Supervalu, and president and chief operating officer, wholesale food companies, Supervalu, Minneapolis.
Dennis T. Stewart, president and chief executive officer, Piggly Wiggly Alabama Distributing Co., Bessemer, Ala.
Kenneth C. Stroud, president and chief executive officer, Dahl's Foods, Des Moines, Iowa.
Appointed to the board to fill vacancies were Steven E. Erickson, president, Erickson's Diversified Corporation, Hudson, Wis.; and James Meyer, president, Spartan Stores, Grand Rapids, Mich.
