SUPERVALU EXECUTIVE VP TO RETIRE MARCH 2

MINNEAPOLIS -- Supervalu here said executive vice president Larry Anderson will retire March 2 but stay with the company indefinitely to work on several projects. A successor has not been named yet. Anderson, who is also president and chief operating officer of Supervalu's retail food companies, has spent 22 years with Supervalu, and was integral in its acquisition and integration of Wetterau in 1992.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Supervalu here said executive vice president Larry Anderson will retire March 2 but stay with the company indefinitely to work on several projects. A successor has not been named yet. After joining the company's former Des Moines division in 1974 as retail operations manager, Anderson became vice president of that division in 1977. He was named corporate vice president and regional president of retail support companies in 1985 and in 1988 was appointed corporate senior vice president.

With the acquisition of St. Louis-based Wetterau in 1992, Anderson assumed the additional responsibility of vice chairman of Wetterau. He was named to his present position in February 1995.

Anderson has been an active participant in the National-American Wholesale Grocers' Association, Falls Church, Va., as a member of the board of governors and the group's productivity and long-range planning committees. In 1995, he was chairman of NAWGA's annual convention. The group is now called Food Distributors International.
