CHICAGO -- The Private Label Manufacturers Association recognized four companies for outstanding achievements in marketing store brands at its annual awards dinner held here last month.

Accepting awards on behalf of Safeway were Gary Smith, senior vice president, and Terry Lee, vice president, for corporate brands. Supervalu's Craig Epselien, director of store brands, accepted for the wholesaler. Jerry Cardinale, senior vice president, category management, and Rod Kautz, director of category management, picked up the award for Rite-Aid. Cynthia Glaser, assistant vice president and general merchandise manager, accepted for Costco Wholesale.
