Weis Rolls Out More Price Cuts
Weis Markets last week unveiled another round of price cuts, saying it has reduced the shelf prices on 2,600 staple items. The new prices will remain "frozen" until April, the company said.

SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets here last week unveiled another round of price cuts, saying it has reduced the shelf prices on 2,600 staple items. The new prices will remain "frozen" until April, the company said.
In addition the chain, which operates 165 stores in the Northeast, said it would freeze the prices on another 624 products.
"It is clear our customers remain in a cautious mood due to the weak economy," said David J. Hepfinger, president and chief executive officer, Weis Markets. "Over the past year, our Price Freeze program has generated $16 million in savings for our customers."
The overall "Price Freeze" item count now totals 3,224 products and includes private-label and brand-name products in dry grocery, produce, frozen foods, dairy, meat, deli and bakery.
The initiative is being promoted in Weis Markets' current circular, television and radio ads, and in store with "Price Freeze" signs and shelf tags.
