EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market here saw sales climb 29% and comparable-store sales grow 11.9% during the fiscal third quarter, which ended Nov. 26, according to Tesco, its United Kingdom-based parent company.
Tesco does not release dollar sales totals or profitability during its first- and third-quarter reports.
Tesco said it continues be encouraged by the momentum at Fresh & Easy. It said it attributed the sales increases to larger customer counts and higher average spends.
"New-store performance also continues to be pleasing, with good weekly sales per store — reflecting the fact these stores incorporate all the improvements to the offer for customers we have introduced in recent months," the company said in a statement.
