ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores here sent a letter this week to Rep. Bart Gordon (D-Tenn.) supporting the Combat Methamphetamine Enhancement Act (H.R. 2923) that he introduced to Congress.
The bill, which has been referred to a committee, addresses illicit methamphetamine production and abuse. Its purpose is to ensure that pharmacies selling these drugs self certify with the Drug Enforcement Agency, and that those who do not self certify with the DEA cannot access pseudoephedrine and ephedrine products.
The Food Marketing Institute sent Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) a letter last month stating its support of a practically identical bill, Combat Methamphetamine Enhancement Act of 2009 (S. 256), which she introduced to the Senate.
