Roberts, Publix Lobbyist, Dies at Age 36

Randy Roberts, government relations director for Publix Super Markets, died suddenly at his home here last week, the company confirmed.

LAKELAND, Fla. — Randy Roberts, government relations director for Publix Super Markets, died suddenly at his home here last week, the company confirmed.

He was 36. Local reports said the cause of death was thought to have been a heart attack.

Roberts, a six-year veteran of the chain, which is based here, was Publix’s top lobbyist to state and local governments, according to local reports.

“The Publix family has experienced a great loss today,” spokeswoman Maria Brous told SN on Friday. “To know Randy was to love him. He was full of life and a man of great honor and integrity. Our hearts ache for his family.”

Roberts is survived by his wife, Sara, and two children.
