BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Sam’s Club here is rationing rice at all locations where quantity restrictions are allowed by law because of “recent supply and demand trends,” according to reports. Members of the wholesale club are limited to purchasing four bags at a time of jasmine, basmati and long-grain white rice. Sam’s Club’s adoption of the policy comes at a time when a global rice supply shortage is spurring export bans by major exporting countries, among them India and Vietnam.
