More Amazon Fresh grocery stores are on the verge of opening up shop — most recently in Pennsylvania, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The online retail giant will open its next brick-and-mortar operation in Bensalem, Penn.

Amazon has also applied for a liquor license at a second location in Philadelphia’s Northern Liberties neighborhood, according to the report.

The Bensalem location has sat empty since it was built out in 2021, and work has begun on the location in Philadelphia.

Amazon made headlines across the country in 2023 after it built out dozens of stores across the country and then never opened them. The online retailer faced lawsuits for failure to open some of those stores.

The company appears to be recommitting to the in-store concept last year with the revamping of pre-existing metro Chicago locations, but that effort seemed stalled until recently, when it began working on locations in Gaithersburg, Md., and Alexandria, Va.

Amazon also opened new locations in Eatontown, N.J., in June and in the Chicago suburb of Arlington Heights in July.
