Brookshire Grocery Co. has entered into an agreement to purchase three Diamond Food Market locations in northwest Texas.

Tyler, Texas-based Brookshire operates more than 205 stores in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma under the banners of Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market, FRESH by Brookshire’s and Reasor’s.

The Diamond Food Markets locations in Henrietta and Audrey, Texas, will become Spring Market locations, and the Mineral Wells location will join the Brookshire’s banner, the grocer reported.

“We are very excited about this opportunity to further serve our northwest Texas neighbors,” said Brookshire Grocery Co. Chairman and CEO Brad Brookshire, in a statement, adding that the company celebrated its 95th anniversary this year. “We look forward to a great future ahead with an expanded team with these Diamond stores. Customers will recognize many friendly faces who will be joining our team to serve our customers with quality products at competitive prices along with outstanding customer service.”

Food industry Investment banking firm The Food Partners served as an advisor to both companies in the transaction, Brookshire noted.

All three stores will close for a brief transition period, and Brookshire said it plans to reopen them within a few days under their new banners. Brookshire also plans to remodel the stores to “bring new features and expanded offering to customers.”

The deal, which was first announced in September, comes a few months after Brookshire sold 120 in-store pharmacies to Walgreens at its locations in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. The company's 17 Reasor’s stores, which Brookshire purchased from the independent Oklahoma grocer in early 2022, were not included in the Walgreens deal.

Brookshire also made headlines in May, when it picked Atlanta, Georgia-based tech company NCR Corporation to handle the grocer's in-store technology, including management of its self-checkout systems, loyalty programs and more.
