Grocery Outlet and Aldi led September's new store openings, as tracked by Winsight Grocery Business.

Discounters Grocery Outlet and Aldi led the way in September’s new grocery openings tracked by Winsight Grocery Business.

Both retailers opened three new stores during the month.

WGB, in its unscientific monthly survey, tracked 17 total new grocery store openings during September, slightly fewer than the 20 openings noted in August but nearly double the nine stores launched in July.

Sprouts Farmers Market opened just one store during September, though it has a busy calendar of openings in the coming months as it looks to reach 10% unit growth in 2024.

WGB counted 25 new store openings in May and June, 14 in April and 40 new stores in March.
