Lunds & Byerlys to open a new St. Paul store this week
The new market is 20% larger than the 40-year-old one nearby that it replaces and will feature a wide variety of prepared foods and other items.
A new Lunds & Byerlys store is slated to open Thursday in the Highland Bridge development in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The new location replaces an existing store in nearby Highland Park, which will remain open until Thursday, the grocer said.
The Highland Bridge Lunds & Byerlys market is 51,000-square-feet, 20% larger than the old grocery store.
The new store features a wide variety of prepared foods including a taco bar, Mediterranean bar, sushi station, hot foot bar, salads, soups, sandwiches and more. It also includes a second-level taproom called The Mezz, which has 30 self-service taps with local beers, seltzers and wine. The taproom has indoor and outdoor seating, and serves sandwiches and snacks at the counter.
The grocery store will also sell the chain’s exclusive Reserve Aged beef, sustainable seafood, locally grown produce, specialty cheeses, breads and private-label products.
The location is home to a full-service Caribou Coffee café and a Bachman’s Floral shop.
Grocery delivery and curbside pickup are available at the new store, along with two levels of covered parking.
“It has been with a tremendous amount of pride that we have served the Highland Park community for nearly 40 years,” Tres Lund, CEO of Lunds & Byerlys, said in a statement. “We’re excited to open a new, larger store steps away to meet the needs of this growing community.”
The new Highland Bridge development, on the former site of Ford Motor Company’s Twin Cities assembly plant, will include 3,800 housing units and about 150,000 square feet of retail space.
Family-owned Lunds & Byerlys has 28 grocery stores in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
