Publix plans another Kentucky location
The Florida-based grocery chain’s next location is set for Owensboro
Publix Super Markets has signed a lease for a new store in Owensboro, Ky., the Lakeland, Fla.-based grocer announced Tuesday.
The new store will be located at the northwest corner of Pleasant Valley Road and Hayden Road, Publix said in a press release.
Publix first entered the Kentucky market with a store in Louisville. The grocer said in January that it plans to open five more locations in Louisville, Lexington, and Walton.
When including its liquor stores, which are typically located next to the supermarkets, the grocer has announced 11 locations this year. Publix has 1,425 locations across eight states as of Aug. 26, according to Scrapehero.com, a web scraping service firm that provides point of interest datasets from retailer websites.
The new 50,325-square-foot store is expected to employ about 150 associates, Publix said.
The grocer has not announced a timeframe for when the store will open.
