Stater Bros. Markets is opening a bigger and better location in Oceanside, California, following a remodeling and expansion of one of its existing stores, the grocer announced this week.

The company has expanded the location by 10,000 square feet at 3770 Mission Ave., creating enough room for a fresh-cut fruit station, sushi station and expanded beer department, among other new amenities. Stater Bros. also updated the store’s interior to modernize its look.

“Shoppers will appreciate having many of their favorite foods under one roof such as delectable pan dulce, hand-prepared guacamole and tender tres leches cakes, among many others,” the company said in a statement. “Shoppers looking for delicious and convenient food options will be delighted with fresh sushi created in-store by professionally trained sushi chefs and freshly cut fruit straight from the store’s fruit-cutting station.”

The store is holding a grand re-opening through Sunday and is offering free samples of its new food items and the chance to win a free bag of groceries.

“In nearly all respects, the investment we’ve made in our Oceanside store has provided enhancements that make it essentially a ‘new’ store,” said Stater Bros. Markets Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Pete Van Helden in a statement. “I know the residents of North San Diego County are going to love the extra space, added features and freshened appearance.”

The company did not say how much it spent on the remodeling project.

The Southern California chain operates roughly 170 stores and employs 18,000 workers.
