Tops Friendly Markets announced the grand re-opening of its Greece, New York, location. The Tops store at 3507 Mount Read Blvd. underwent a $3.4 million store renovation, marking the 27th location that has been updated “with a new look and a renewed focus on fresh departments,” said the company.

Tops recently celebrated 25 years in Rochester, New York, with a $500,000 renovation of its 26th updated store at 285 Upper Falls Blvd.

The 100,000-square-foot Tops Greece store has been “refreshed from top to bottom for a new and contemporary experience,” and includes new exterior paint with refreshed awnings, landscaping, energy efficient equipment and LED lighting both inside and out, new flooring, expanded state-of-the-art self-checkouts, renovated restrooms and new interior décor.

The new store also features a Starbucks Café, and will offer their full menu of coffee, teas, Nitro drinks, seasonal delights and their full assortment of bakery, merchandise and snack items.

“Having a Starbucks Coffeehouse in-store for our shoppers enhances their overall shopping experience,” said Jeff Culhane, senior vice president of merchandising for Tops Friendly Markets, in a statement. “The state-of-the-art design will entice shoppers to try the wide array of offerings that Starbucks enthusiasts love.”

Tops has expanded its assortment of products at the Greece location. The deli has been expanded, and now offers premium Boar’s Head meats, cheeses and specialty items, as well as carry-out café areas with sandwiches, signature pizzas, extensive prepared salad varieties, fresh sushi and other grab-and-go breakfast, lunch and dinner options.

Throughout the store, there’s more antibiotic-free meat, plant-based options, sustainable seafood selections and a larger selection of certified organic and gluten-free offerings. Tops bakery has undergone an expansion as well, offering more of an assortment of freshly baked breads, pastries, cakes, freshly fried donuts and gluten free items from local Western New York bakery Vin-Chet’s.

“We are working hard every day to make life easier for shoppers by focusing on affordable, easy-to-prepare meal options as well as providing some new additions,” said Dave Williams, store manager, in a statement.

Tops partners with over 500 local produce and dairy farmers, including suppliers in western New York such as DeConinck Farms in Hilton, said a company statement. Tops is a supporter of products grown by New York State farmers who adhere to the New York State Grown and Certified program’s requirements, which includes verification of safe food handling practices and participation in environmental sustainability programs, according to the company.

“When it comes to freshness, convenience and variety, you'll find everything here at your newly remodeled Greece store, and with all of the inspiring products including a wider selection of domestic and imported cheeses, fresh sushi prepared daily, healthy hydration, custom cut meats by real butchers and an expanded floral department. Guests are sure to enjoy all we have to offer,” said Williams.

Part of the store’s remodel also includes their pharmacy, which now has a new waiting area and provides a variety of services including immunizations. Tops is also an authorized administer of the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles' Vision test, according to a company release.

In addition, the Tops location has Grocery Pick Up and Delivery service, and the new Shop Scan app for quick checkout that allows customers to bag as they go.

During the grand re-opening celebration, customers had the chance to win $1,000 Tops gift cards for food and fuel, a Bristol Mountain Ski Resort Family Prize Pack and a Rochester Amerks Family Night Prize Pack. The Greece Tops store will also be making $1,000 donations to local groups.

Tops Markest is based in Williamsville, New York, and currently operates 150 grocery stores in New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont.
