Trader Joe’s plans to open a new store on Tuesday in Forest Hills in Queens, New York.

The 17,000-square-foot grocery store will feature interior artwork that celebrates the neighborhood’s comic book history. (Spider Man’s alter ego, Peter Parker, is said to reside in Forest Hills.)

The store will debut at 8 a.m., immediately following a short ribbon-cutting ceremony with Store Captain Carlos Salazar and other store employees. The first 100 customers will receive store giveaways.

“As a neighborhood grocery store, Trader Joe’s prides itself on hiring where our store is located,” the specialty grocer said in a statement. “Hiring efforts are still underway.”

It will be the grocer’s third store in Queens.

Trader Joe’s said it will donate all unsold products that are still fit to consume to a range of community non-profit organizations. The grocer said it donated more than $411 million worth of food and drinks to 1,385 community groups last year.

The store, located between Queens Blvd. and Yellowstone Blvd., will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Last month, the grocer opened a new store in the Lakewood Ranch planned community in Florida.

Trader Joe’s is known for its differentiated assortment of private-label products and averages up to three times as many visits per square foot as conventional grocers, according to a recent Placer.ai report.
