Western grocer Raley’s has reopened a store in Reno, Nevada, that had been closed for almost five months for a major remodel.

West Sacramento, California-based Raley’s said its supermarket at 701 Keystone Avenue in Reno, which held a grand reopening event on Thursday, now sports a new and modern decor and features new equipment plus an expanded food assortment, notably more fresh and prepared items.

A “new and improved” kitchen serves up a range of grab-and-go items, including “chef-crafted” sandwiches, fresh sides and proteins, according to Raley’s. Extended prepared food offerings also include a fresh, made-to-order salad bar, Signature Hot Wok dishes and an in-house sushi bar.

In the center-store area, customers also will find new pet care items, including a variety of gourmet dog treats made with human-grade ingredients, Raley’s said.

“Raley’s Keystone location has been a pillar of this community for almost 50 years,” Brad Poalillo, district team leader for Raley’s, said in a statement. “Our remodel investment only strengthens our commitment to the region by offering an improved shopping experience for our customers.”

Raley’s has operated the Keystone Avenue store in Reno since July 1973, when it added the location as part of its acquisition of the Eagle Thrifty Drug chain, which became the foundation of the grocer’s northern Nevada division.

In 2018, Raley’s further boosted its share in the Reno market by acquiring most of the remaining stores of Scolari’s Food & Drug. Raley’s acquired five Scolari’s supermarkets, which were converted to the Raley’s banner, and one Sak ’N Save discount grocery store, which continues to operate under that brand.

Overall, Raley’s operates 129 stores in California and Nevada under the Raley’s, Bel Air Markets, Nob Hill Foods, Raley’s O-N-E Market, Food Source and Sak ’N Save banners. The chain is part of The Raley’s Cos., formed in December 2021 with the acquisition of The Bashas’ Family of Stores, creating a retail network of more than 235 stores in California, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico, also including the banners Bashas’, Bashas’ Diné, Food City, AJ’s Fine Foods and Eddie’s Country Store.
