Weis markets to open new store

1 Min Read

Weis Markets opened its 63,400-square-foot superstore in Easton, Pa. on June 26. The new store utilizes advanced refrigeration and climate control technologies designed to lessen its impact on global warming. These technologies will reduce the store's refrigerant charge (usage) by 50% compared to a conventional supermarket. It also features a number of energy reducing technologies, including: solar/thermal rated windows and reflective roofs and skylights for natural lighting.

At the ribbon cutting, the store also present $17,000 in local donations, including $15,000 to St. Luke's Hospital and Health Network for its Riverside Hospital in nearby Bethlehem. The store is also making individual $1,000 donations to the Community Fire Company of Forks Township and the Forks Township Youth Sports Organization.  The donation to St. Luke's will benefit the Hospital's new women's imaging center.

This is Weis Markets' second store opening in three weeks.  Earlier this month, it opened a 63,000-square-foot store in West Lawn, PA.  Later this summer, it will open a third unit, a replacement store in Bellefonte, PA.

The store features Weis Markets' newest store design with expansive perishable departments, a center store offering with increased variety, an in-store café selling beer, a full-service pharmacy and a gas station.
