WinCo’s Silverdale, Washington, store is now open.

The new 85,000-square-foot store—located at 10315 Silverdale Way NW, Silverdale, Washington — is WinCo Foods’ 138th store, and the grocery chain’s 24th store in the state. It opened Monday.

Washington is a legacy market for the retailer, and Silverdale-area residents were very vocal in letting the company know via social media, emails and phone calls that they wanted a WinCo store, according to WinCo spokesperson Noah Fleisher.

“The people in the Silverdale area have been patiently watching as we’ve built this store,” Fleisher said in a statement. "And that patience is about to pay off. The excitement surrounding the construction of this store has been tremendous, and WinCo Foods is just as excited as the residents of the area to get the doors open.”

The employee-owned store not only adds a grocery store to the area, but it brings jobs to the surrounding community as well, staffing between 150 to 200 full- and part-time employee owners. Fleisher said that every staff member shoppers encounter at the Silverdale WinCo will be part owners of the company, as well as members of the community. “In supporting our employee-owned company, they are supporting their friends, family and neighbors, as well as getting the best possible prices on their groceries," he said.

The new store has a full produce section and meat, deli and bakery departments, as well as WinCo’s “Wall of Values" discount area. Also, more than 700 items will be featured in the store’s bulk foods department. The bulk foods department includes products such as rice varieties, dried beans, pastas, baking ingredients, cereals, snacks, candies and pet foods.

“Our customers love that they can buy as little or as much as they like, whether it’s two teaspoons of a specific spice, or a 50-pound sack of flour," he said. "On top of all this, we also carry a variety of organic, gluten-free and natural food items, all clearly labeled.”

Headquartered in Idaho, WinCo has store locations in Idaho, and also Arizona, California, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Utah.
