Associated Food Stores announced member Jim Davis, owner of David Food & Drug, would be inducted into the Utah Food Industry Association’s Hall of Fame Tuesday at the organization’s annual conference.

A 46-year industry veteran, Davis started out as a bagger at Safeway in 1970, before working his way up to store manager. He opened his first stores under the Davis Food & Drug banner in 1988 in Vernal and Roosevelt, Utah. Davis now operates four stores in Utah with his sons Lee and CJ.

Davis participated in multiple Associated Food Stores committees. He has also served as chairman of the board for UFIA.

In addition, Davis has been a member of and served on multiple boards for the Tri-County Economic Development Board, Shriners Hospital for Children, Vernal Rotary and multiple other organizations.

“It is a very humbling, gratifying and surprising acknowledgement. For 46 years I have enjoyed being involved in the grocery business and to receive an award and recognition of this level is indeed flattering,” Davis said in a press release.
