SN Top 10: Walgreens, Schnucks, Lidl top the weeks headlines

In this week’s recap of the Top 10 most popular Supermarket News articles, the top story was Walgreens acquires 120 Brookshire Grocery pharmacies. Brookshire, based in Tyler, Texas, released a statement today announcing the acquisition, which will impact the retailer’s pharmacies located in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas. The sale also includes pharmacy customer prescription files and related pharmacy inventory. Most of the pharmacies will operate under the Walgreens name inside Brookshire Grocery locations.

In other news, at least eight CVS pharmacies in Ohio have been accused of understaffing issues resulting in dangerous conditions for patrons, according to reporting from local publication the Ohio Capital Journal. The Ohio Board of Pharmacy has released a series of reports indicating that  CVS staff at the stores are facing desperate issues which include lack of controls over dangerous drugs and month-long wait times, reports the Ohio Capital Journal.
