The “Big State, Big State” promotion recognizes homegrown fruits vegetables and packaged goods.

“Get to know a few of our favorite Texan friends,” Central Market writes on its website.

Featured companies include Oak Hills Farms, a supplier of broccoli, lettuces, peas, strawberries and squash; ABJ Farms, watermelons and vegetables: Tay’s Gourmet Power Granolas; Lola Savannah Coffee; Salsa Texas; and Dan’s Prime barbecue and other sauces.

The promotion, which kicked off June 25, follows other themed promotional events. In May, it gave shoppers a taste of South America when it hosted a two-week celebration of food and beverages from Argentina. The “Passport to Argentina” event featured an array of dinners and tastings at Central Market cooking schools.

Guest appearances included Narda Lepes, TV Host on “E! Gourmet,” who discussed Argentine traditions; and Laura Catena, owner of Luca Wines in Argentina, who hosted a 2½-hour dinner prepared by Central Market’s cooking school staff and paired with her company’s wines.
