DALLAS — Keoni Chang, a chef at Foodland Super Markets in Hawaii, won the first-ever FMI Supermarket Chef Showdown at the Food Marketing Institute show here Thursday.
Chang (left) had entered the competition with a recipe for "Deconstructed Ahi California Roll" in the Indulgent category. Other finalists were Brian Dunn of Roche Bros., Ethnic category; Rachael Perron of Kowalski's, Healthy Alternatives category; and Amber Pruett of Publix Super Markets, Family Meals category.
Each of the finalists wins $1,000, and Chang, as Grand Chef Champion, wins a three-day professional development course at the Culinary Institute of America.
