The FDA has now officially recalled a slew of eye drop products, following an announcement from the facility that produces them, reports CBS News.

Twenty-seven products sold at stores like CVS, Rite Aid, Target, and Walmart are on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recall list after the agency issued a warning a few weeks ago. Originally, 26 eye drops were being flagged.

FDA investigators found unsanitary conditions and possible bacterial test results at the Kilitch Healthcare India facility. The company announced the recall on Wednesday. The expiration dates on the possible infected products range from November 2023 to September 2025.

A complete list of the recalled eye drops can be found here.

The FDA said using the products could increase the risk of eye infections and could result in partial vision loss or blindness.

So far, no lawsuits have been filed involving complications around the eye care products.

Since delivering the warning, the FDA said CVS, Rite Aid, and Target were removing the products from their shelves and websites, but some products branded as Leader, Rugby, and Velocity may still be available for purchase. Walmart also carries the recalled products.

In a statement to Supermarket News, Rite Aid and CVS confirmed the products involved in the FDA alert were pulled.

CVS added, “We’re committed to ensuring the products we offer are safe, work as intended and satisfy customers, and are fully cooperating with the FDA on this matter.”
