Publix will now offer cheaper prescription medications
Retailer is partnering with pharmacy program Visory Health
Publix, based in Lakeland, Fla., is partnering with a pharmacy program company to offer cheaper prescription medications at locations that have a pharmacy, reports The Miami Herald.
Pharmacy program company Visory Health can now be used at Publix pharmacies.
Publix operates over 1,300 stores in the southeast, primarily in the states of Florida, the Carolinas, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, and Alabama. Over 1,000 Publix locations carry a pharmacy, and shoppers could save as much as 80% on prescription medication by using a Visory Health discount card.
Visory Health does not require insurance. Shoppers can use the Visory app at Publix stores to receive the discount on medications.
According to a report by the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE), the principal advisory group to the U.S. Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, the price of over 1,200 drugs increased between July 2021 and July 2022 and exceeded the inflation rate of 8.5% during that time. The average price for the medication spiked 31.6%, and some drugs in 2022 went up 500%.
