Winsight Grocery Business on Thursday named Russell Redman, formerly managing editor of Supermarket News, as executive editor.

Redman brings nearly two decades of grocery, drug and mass retail industry reporting expertise to WGB, along with more than 30 years’ experience as a journalist. At WGB, he will cover breaking news, trends and more across the industry. He will also attend grocery industry events around the country.

“I’m excited to join the team at Winsight Grocery Business to help make it the No. 1 news and information source in the grocery retail industry,” Redman said. “Under the direction of Editor-in-Chief Heather Lalley, WGB is poised to become the leading multimedia brand in the grocery arena."

Redman joins a team that includes Lalley, Editors Diane Adam and Jeniece Drake, and Web Producer Kimberly Pellikan. WGB is overseen by Abbey Lewis, Winsight’s vice president of content strategy.

"Russ is an incredibly skilled and experienced grocery industry journalist,” Lewis said. “Adding him to our team of editors will allow us to grow and innovate our coverage of this incredibly vibrant and interesting business. I am thrilled to welcome him to Winsight Grocery Business and expect big things to come."

Redman will report to Lalley, who joined the publication as editor-in-chief in September. He will continue to be based in New York.

“We are delighted to have Russ join us as executive editor at WGB,” Lalley said. “His industry experience and depth of knowledge will provide incredible value to our readers. There has never been a more-exciting, fast-paced time to cover the grocery industry, and we are so glad to have Russ adding his thoughtful contributions to our publication."

In 2017, business-to-business media, events and data firm Winsight acquired Grocery Headquarters magazine and reimagined it into Winsight Grocery Business. Winsight’s media portfolio also includes Restaurant Business, CSP Daily News and Foodservice Director.
