Instacart members to earn Delta SkyMiles with new partnership

Online grocery platform joins airline to offer air miles for dollars spent

Beginning next week, online grocery platform Instacart will team with Delta Air Lines to reward members who link their Delta SkyMiles and Instacart accounts with 1 mile for each $1 they spend on Instacart. In addition, Instacart Express Members will earn 1.5 miles for every $1 spent. Taxes, tips and fees are not included.

“We want our SkyMiles Members to feel valued and rewarded every single day,” said Josh Kaehler, director of SkyMiles Partnerships at Delta. “As we welcome new Members to the SkyMiles program at record levels, we know most shop for groceries more often than they fly. This new partnership is a way for us to give our most loyal customers even more value outside of their travel journey.”

Members will also receive special access to extended complimentary trials of up to 12 months of Instacart Express, Instacart’s premium membership, which provides free delivery on orders over $35 and other savings benefits like 5% back on all Pickup orders. SkyMiles Members and Silver and Gold Medallion Members will have the option of a three-month complimentary Instacart Express trial; Platinum and Diamond Medallion Members can opt into a 12-month trial.

“Instacart allows customers to focus on doing what they love while caring for their health and well-being with easy access to fresh groceries at the touch of a button,” said Wassim Kabbara, director of product partnerships at Instacart. “We’re proud to announce a first-of-its-kind partnership to give Delta SkyMiles Members new ways to earn miles on everyday grocery purchases.”

North America’s largest third-party online grocery platform, San Francisco-based Instacart partners with more than 600 national, regional and local retailers and delivers from nearly 55,000 stores — about 20,000 added in the past year — across more than 5,500 cities. Its delivery service reaches 85% of U.S. households and 70% of Canadian households.
