ABC CORRECTS ORGANIC CLAIM

NEW YORK -- ABC News here admitted last week that a report it aired twice on national television questioning the actual health benefits of organic foods was based partially on research that did not exist. A correction was aired on Friday's "20/20" news program. In the initial report, correspondent John Stossel reported that organic produce contained just as much pesticide residue as conventional produce, but, according to two researchers commissioned for the project by ABC, no pesticide tests were ever conducted on produce during Stossel's investigation.
