Two east coast ShopRites launch ‘Fresh to Table’ food service concept
The concept is tapping into the consumer demand for prepared foods
Two east coast Shoprites have debuted a foodservice at retail concept: “Fresh to Table,” with an emphasis on fresh, easy to prepare ingredients, and grab-and-go.
Consumers have been increasingly turning to grocery store foodservice as part of meal planning and an ongoing trend toward food-at-home. (Although restaurant stomach share has been increasing in recent months.)
Designed within the store’s existing footprint, the Fresh to Table concept includes sections with ready-to-cook items (“Prep & Eat”), ready-to-heat and serve items (“Heat & Eat”), and ready-to-eat meals (“Grab & Eat”).
The concept also has foods from ShopRite’s private label lines, including the brand’s Bowl & Basket and Wholesome Pantry products.
Shoppers can also access Fresh to Table options using the stores’ online shopping service.
The ShopRite of Norwich and the ShopRite of New London (both located in Connecticut) are operated by Five Star Supermarkets, owned by the Capano family.
