Even as grocery prices moderated a bit from recent years, 2024 marked another huge year in private label as retailers rolled out new store brands and consumers flocked to them.

Annual sales for private-label items have increased 41% over the past five years, according to the Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA), and the non-profit trade organization projects that 2024 private-label sales will top $250 billion dollars in annual revenue. That’s a new record.


What’s more, store brands now make up one out of every four grocery items sold in the U.S., the PLMA said.
