Michigan Union Details Kroger Contract Terms

United Food and Commercial Workers Local 876 said yesterday that its 300-member advisory committee has unanimously approved terms of a new contract covering some 9,900 workers at 101 Kroger stores in this market.

DETROIT — United Food and Commercial Workers Local 876 here said yesterday that its 300-member advisory committee has unanimously approved terms of a new contract covering some 9,900 workers at 101 Kroger stores in this market. Members will vote on the package later this week. The union said the three-year pact would give top wage rate increases of $1 to $1.30 per hour over the contract's term and would reduce qualifying periods for health insurance coverage. Employees will begin contributing to their health benefits beginning Jan. 1, 2008, however.
