BJ’s Wholesale Club will open new club in Tennessee
The Goodlettsville location will mark the third in the state
BJ’s Wholesale Club will open a new club in Tennessee in early 2024 — the state’s third.
The club will be located in Goodlettsville and joins two other existing clubs in La Vergne and Mt. Juliet in the state. It will be the 244th BJ’s Wholesale Club in the U.S. and will create 150 new positions.
BJ’s Wholesale Club said it continues to see a hefty demand in Tennessee.
The warehouse retailer is coming off a second quarter of ups and downs and revised its outlook for the rest of 2023.
BJ’s saw a modest gain in comparable club sales in Q2, and increases in membership fee revenue and gross profit ($860 million in Q2 2022 to $896 million in Q2 2023) but saw drops in areas like total comparable club sales and net income.
BJ’s is also now calling for year-over-year comparable club sales to increase 2% and membership fee revenue to go up 5%.
“As we look ahead, we remain confident in our ability to maintain the momentum in our traffic and market share gains due to our unrelenting focus on value,” said Laura Felice, executive vice president, chief financial officer, BJ’s Wholesale Club. “However, we also continue to navigate shifts in consumer behavior driven by the broader macroeconomic environment.
