Dollar General, headquartered in Goodlettsville, Ten., has opened a DG Market in Conroe, Texas, reports the Houston Chronicle.

The DG Market concept first launched in 2003, and differs from typical Dollar General stores because it stocks produce, meat, and other products not offered at traditional locations.

The new DG Market in Conroe also offers household essentials like cleaning supplies, paper products, over-the-counter medicine, and personal hygiene products as well as food and beverages.

The Conroe store will also offer more home décor and an expanded party preparation selection.

The location is just over 12,600 square feet and is the first DG Market in Montgomery County.

“We are excited to provide Conroe residents with our new DG Market format and look forward to welcoming customers to our new location,” said Matthew Simonsen, Dollar General’s senior vice president of real estate and store development. “The new DG Market format will provide the Conroe community with closer access to fresh and healthier foods and a convenient location to purchase the items they want. We hope our customers will enjoy the new store.”

Schools, libraries, and nonprofit organizations within a 15-mile radius of the Conroe store can also now apply for Dollar General Literacy Foundation grants.
