Recall of salad kits at Meijer, Publix, Fresh Thyme Market
Products could carry Listeria monocytogenes

A number of salad kits from multiple suppliers and sold at multiple grocery stores across the Midwest and the South are being recalled.
Revolution Farms, LLC, is pulling all products sold under the Revolution Farms brand because they could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. As a result, Meijer is removing select Fresh From Meijer premade salads. Fresh Thyme Market also sells the kits. Revolution Farms operates out of the state of Michigan, and the Michigan Department of Agriculture Rural Development received a positive result for Listeria monocytogenes in a random sample test from the supplier’s Green Sweet Crisp lettuce.
In addition, Fresh Express Inc. has voluntarily recalled a limited quantity of three varieties of already-expired branded and private label salad kit products produced at the company’s Morrow, Ga., facility out of an abundance of caution due to a possible health risk from Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled products are no longer available for sale and no illnesses have been reported to date.
Fresh Express’ Caesar Chopped Kit and Chopped Kit Chipotle Cheddar and Publix’s Makoto Honey Ginger Salad kit could be contaminated.
Recalled salad items all carry product code GO75 and use-by Dates of March 31 or April 2 located on the front of the package. They were distributed through retailers in the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Retailers have been instructed to ensure the recalled products are removed from all inventories.
The recall was initiated when it was learned a random sample test of a single salad kit with a use-by date of March 31 collected by the Georgia Department of Agriculture yielded a positive result for the Listeria pathogen.
Products linked to the Revolution Farms recall include its Mini Romaine, Michigan Spring Mix and Crisp Kale Caesar. The Fresh From Meijer brands that could be infected include the Cranberry Spinach Shareable Salad, Mediterranean Salad, Cobb Salad and Chicken Caesar Salad. Stores that carry these brands are located in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky and Wisconsin.
No cases have been reported at this time.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Consumers with these symptoms should consult their health care provider.
