Take a look inside the latest revamp to an Amazon Fresh store in Chicago

The redesign offers new brands, prepared meals, and Dash Carts

Amazon has been saying all along it has a plan for grocery, and you can catch a glimpse of that strategy at two newly redesigned Amazon Fresh stores in the Chicagoland area.

The stores, in Schaumburg and Oak Lawn, two suburbs of Chicago, have been redesigned with an expanded selection and updated checkout options.

The two locations now carry a number of new national and private-label brands, and the biggest increases in those areas can be seen in the dairy, snacks, home care, health, and bakery sections. International product offerings are also taking up more shelf space and feature a naan bread selection and international condiments and sauces.

In the produce section, the “Fresh Freebies for Kids” program stand allows children to sample different types of fruits.

Prepared meals are being offered, too, as shoppers now have access to grab-and-go sandwiches, salads, and snack boxes. There are also grab-and-go pizza, burritos, and other meals available.

Both stores also have a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop.

On the tech side, shoppers have access to Dash Carts, Amazon’s smart shopping cart that informs shoppers about real-time deals and allows them to check out directly from the cart.
