Whole Foods Market co-founder launches health and wellness company

Love.Life plans first flagship location in California

Whole Foods Market Co-Founder John Mackey is launching Love.Life, an integrated health and wellness company that provides a “one-stop immersive health experience by combining nourishing food, evolved medical care, and cutting-edge wellness therapies,” according to a company release.

Mackey said that studies show most chronic diseases can be prevented and reversed through diet and lifestyle changes, which is the strategy and focus of Love.Life.

Through comprehensive testing and health assessments, individuals work in partnership with doctors to establish their true baseline health. This information forms the basis of a customized plan that addresses both health risks and opportunities. Then, Love.Life's virtual optimization programs facilitate the implementation, measurement, and sustainability of healthy habits.

"With grocery, we made natural and organic products mainstream and Love.Life is going to play a similar role in the health and wellness industry," said Mackey.

The virtual health optimization programs will launch with the first flagship location slated to open in the summer of 2024 in El Segundo, Calif. The 45,000-square-foot space will provide comprehensive care including physical locations offering medical care, fitness and wellness therapies, and healthy food under one roof, along with licensed physicians practicing telehealth nationwide.

Love.Life's already has a health-forward restaurant open in Culver City, which will launch evidence-based meal prescription plans for specific health conditions once the adjacent medical and wellness components of the brand open.

The company also operates Love Life Cafe in Miami, Fla., which opened its new location in February 2023 with expanded seating, a bar, and new menu items.
