Kuhn’s Begins Labor Talks

Kuhn’s Quality Foods began negotiating a union contract for workers at a store here on Friday, according to United Food and Commercial Workers Local 23, which said it won representation for the store’s employees after Kuhn’s acquired the closed location.

PITTSBURGH — Kuhn’s Quality Foods began negotiating a union contract for workers at a store here on Friday, according to United Food and Commercial Workers Local 23, which said it won representation for the store’s employees after Kuhn’s acquired the closed location.

The union said more than half the 70 workers at the store were there when it operated under Foodland banner, which had been unionized before it was closed last July. The store is the only one of Kuhn’s eight locations to be unionized, the local said.
