H-E-B is touting its seafood sustainability efforts with a new website and a partnership with the Environmental Defense Fund.
The website features short videos (like the one below) explaining various aspects of H-E-B’s seafood supply, including Alaskan salmon, Louisiana crawfish and the Gulf Wild traceability program.
H-E-B’s site also details its seafood sustainability policy and answers frequently asked questions about its sourcing. A chart shows the names of all the seafood items the retailer stocks, where each item originates and the method for determining its sustainability.
For the past year, H-E-B has worked with the non-profit Environmental Defense Fund to talk to suppliers about sustainability and its importance for the retailer.
“H-E-B is proud of our commitment to the environment; and our new partnership with EDF will ensure that we continue to offer Texans fresh, safe, responsible seafood through innovative programs that work with fishermen to achieve total sustainability,” director of seafood procurement Kyle Stevens said in a press release.
