NEW YORK -- Woodbridge, N.J.-based Pathmark Stores has introduced a new line of ready-to-cook seafood dishes called "Easy-Cook Entrees" in its stores here.

uffed with crab meat. Advertised as freshly made daily with premium crab meat stuffing, the seafood entrees "make an easy to prepare gourmet seafood dinner a reality," according to the ad. The ad ran in the section of Pathmark's weekly advertising supplement devoted to seafood, and was distributed earlier this month in local newspapers.

Each item was listed along with a recommended average portion size per person and suggested preparation methods.

Stuffed salmon and flounder fillets were priced per pound, and stuffed crab imperial, stuffed lobster tail and stuffed shrimp were priced per unit.

Prices listed were $8.99 per pound for stuffed flounder, $7.99 per pound for stuffed salmon, $7.99 per stuffed lobster tail and $1.99 per stuffed crab or extra jumbo shrimp.

The ads suggested portions of 8 to 10 ounces per person for salmon and flounder, two or three crabs or shrimp per person and one lobster tail per person.

Pathmark officials were not available to comment on the new program. It was not clear whether Pathmark units outside of the three suburban New York counties also have started carrying the fresh line.
