Southeastern Grocers has partnered with Pinpoint Software, Inc. to roll out Date Check Pro in all Winn-Dixie, Harveys Supermarkets, and Fresco y Más locations. Date Check Pro is an expiration date management software that establishes consistency and accountability where traditional rotation and spot-checking methods fall short, allowing retailers to provide a fresher and more streamlined shopping experience while minimizing profit loss from expired products.

The initiative is sourced from Southeastern Grocers’ commitment to providing the communities they serve with fresh, high-quality groceries and always improving the consumer’s shopping experience. Jennifer Short, Vice President of Store Support, Southeastern Grocers comments that “by selling or donating items before they expire, we are able to provide the freshest products for our guests, while helping to feed our communities by offering products expiring soon at reduced prices.”

Southeastern Grocers anticipates that this partnership will support an immense reduction in food waste across their stores; a critical component of the partnership was Date Check Pro’s foundation in sustainability. “Fighting food waste is at the heart of everything we do with Date Check Pro,” says Andrew Hoeft, CEO of Pinpoint Software. “As a partner, we are committed that each food retailer’s desired outcome is achieved, from ROI to pounds of food kept out of landfills. Our partnership with Southeastern Grocers will prevent millions of additional pounds of food waste annually.”

Jacksonville, Florida-based Southeastern Grocers has grocery stores, liquor stores, and in-store pharmacies serving communities throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina, making it one of the largest conventional supermarket companies in the U.S. Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket, and Winn-Dixie are valued regional brands with a commitment to providing the highest quality customer experience through solid community ties, histories in giving back, and talented and caring employees.

Date Check Pro was founded in 2011 under parent company Pinpoint Software, Inc. in the growing grocery tech hub of Madison, Wisconsin. Today, the software helps over a thousand supermarket, retail, and convenience store locations globally eliminate losses from dated and expired products while providing customers with an improved shopping experience.

Initial piloting of Date Check Pro software took place in 3 SEG stores in 2019 and continued with an additional 9 in 2020. Rollout for the remaining  locations was completed in April 2021.
